Paris is not a cheap city and finding restaurants where you can eat for 10€ is not an easy task. That is why I’ve decided to share my knowledge on my top 5 cheap restaurants in the 13th arrondissement in Paris (and some bonus). This is my last restaurant post of 2019, but not the last one that will join my Paris’ restaurant guide. Today I am giving you 5 different restaurants that you can find in the 13th arrondissement and where you can eat for around 10€. They are all veggie friendly and honestly, great places to go.
I went to all these places before tofucado was even a thing and took pictures of the food but they were not the best looking pictures and most of them are nowhere to be found. I will revisit all these restaurants in 2020 and add the proper pictures to each plate I describe.
On Parisian arrondissements…
Also, before we head into the actual restaurants, for those of you who don’t know, Paris is divided in 20 “arrondissements”, or districts. It’s really useful to know them because it can help you locate yourself and find a lot of stuff. For instance, if you search “restaurants in the 13th arrondissement” you will only get restaurants in that specific area of Paris.
“Pho Bida” – Vietnamese
This had to be my first option. It is considered to be one of the best vietnamese restaurants in Paris and having tried both veggie friendly and non-veggie friendly, I can assure you it’s delicious. Their most popular dish is their Pho, which is around 11€ for the full Pho. Sadly, the restaurant only has one vegetarian dish. I am slowly working towards becoming a VIP client and convincing them of expanding their veggie menu.
Their only vegetarian option is a vegetarian Bobun. The veggies that come with it are honestly one of the best ones I have ever had in a Bobun. The nems are incredibly tasty and crunchy and not that greasy and the rest is just really well-done.
- Price: 10€
- Address: 36 – 38 Rue Nationale, 75013 Paris
“Couscous maison Arc en ciel” – Homemade couscous
Alright, this one is hard to beat. The place is so homey, the owners are always super nice to us and they are extremely welcoming. On top of this, their prices are the cheapest I’ve ever seen in Paris. The vegetarian cous-cous composed of a big plate of cous cous, side dish of chickpeas, raisins and spicy sauce, and a big bowl of vegetables with broth. The price? 7 euros. You heard that right, 7 euros.
If you want a nice cous-cous place, being in the comfort of a family restaurant and enjoy delicious food, go there.
- Price: 7€
- Address: 49 Rue de Tolbiac, 75013 Paris
“Restaurant Raviolis Chinois” – Chinese dumplings
This restaurant doesn’t have the best service in the world, we went there twice and once we were basically kicked out because they had “closed for the day”, when their opening hours were indicating the contrary. Either way, we went again and this time we understood their success and it kinda made up for the rather cold service and the first contact incident.
Their dumplings have to be one of the best dumplings I’ve had in Paris (for that price). Usually veggie dumplings have a weird taste/filling combos and they aren’t as good as the meat ones. This is one of the rare places where the veggie ones beat the meat ones (in my opinion). Besides the dumplings they have other stuff such as noodles, rice, soups, and all of that but if you go there, go for the dumplings.
- Price: 10 dumplings cost you 5.50€. I usually go for 10 dumplings and a small noodle, soup or rice dish which rounds up to around 10€.
- Address: 33 Rue Caillaux, 75013 Paris
“Pizza 5 diamants” – Pizza
Pizza is staple food. Staple food has to be cheap and most pizza places in Paris are not. Therefore, I searched and searched and I found them. I found two places in the 13th that fit the cheap and yummy criteria. One is a take away only place, the other one has an actual restaurant where you can sit.
The first one is called “Pizza 5 diamants” located in the Butte-aux-cailles of the 13th arrondissement. The vegetarian pizza is 9€ and there is so many ingredients and it is so beautifully made. Yeah, you won’t get fancy burratta or other cheeses, but this vegetarian pizza is heaven.
- Price: 10€
- Address: 54 Rue des cinq Diamants, 75013 Paris
“13ème sens by bella donna” – Pizza
The second place is a recent discovery, it is called 13ème sens by bella donna and it is in the outskirts of Paris. Their vegetarian pizza is 12€ but it is worth every euro.
- Price: 12€
- Address: 3 Avenue Joseph Bédier, 75013 Paris
Cheap restaurants to look out for in the 13th arrondissement in Paris
“Le petit végétarien” – Chinese vegetarian food
I discovered this place recently and I cannot wait to try it out. Everything on their menu is either vegan or vegetarian, all the dishes proposed are traditionally meat-based chinese meals but they are cooked with tofu or similar. They have dumpling soups, “duck” dishes, and many other options to choose from. And the most expensive thing they propose has one small starter, a big main dish, a side dish and a dessert for 15€. I will definitely try this one out in 2020 and add it to my cheap restaurants in Paris list.
- Price: As indicated on their website, around 10€
- Address: 44 avenue d’Ivry, 75013 Paris
Bonus cheap restaurants in Paris: “La Catrina” – Mexican restaurant
This restaurant was recently reviewed and added to my Paris’ restaurant guide, and it also happens to be a cheap one in the 13th arrondissement. You can check out that full review here.
- Price: Around 10€
- Address: 136 Boulevard Vincent Auriol, 75013 Paris
